Fine Arts Building

The Fine Arts Building, a historic artist’s haven since 1898, continues to draw local inspiration. Over fifty artists recently have flocked to one of the few remaining Chicago buildings designed specifically for working artists.

The building hosts a variety of visual artists, musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Lyric Opera members, dance companies and other arts-related businesses.  The building itself is a national landmark and features two theater spaces, the beautiful Venetian Courtyard, murals painting by resident artists in the early 20th Century, and manually-operated cast bronze elevators.

Artist studios are open to the public on the second Friday of every month and in December over 10,000 visitors enjoy “ A Night at the Fine Arts Building”, the annual arts and music celebration.
